What is the Difference Between Bio Fuels and Fossil Fuels?

That’s a good question I’m glad you asked. Bio-fuels are actual fuels that forms well when biological matter decomposes. Bio-fuel exist in gas, solid, and liquid, in all of the three states of matter, and they are mostly deprived from plants. >b>Okay here’s the difference between fossil fuels and bio-fuels Another great question. 1. Bio-fuels can be made super fast, in as little as a few days or so, while Fossil fuels takes a lifetime time to build, such as a million years. Interesting huh? Bio-fuels are different from fossil fuels in the following ways: 2. Bio-fuels are definitely renewable sources of energy while fossil fuels are not. 3. Did you know that fossil fuels creates very large amounts of unsafe pollution while Bio-fuels are much safer? Well yes, it’s true. What are different types of bio-fuels? Here’s the four types of bio-fuels. . . 1. First generation. 2. Second generation. 3. Third generation. 4. Fourth generation Now the first generation fuels are deprived from fats, animal fats, sugar, starch, and vegetables, and obviously these foods are in return deprived from food-crops. Three types of bio-fuels are biogas, bio-diesel, and vegetable oil. Alright the second generation of bio-fuels mainly comes from waste biomass. This makes it a much more balanced option when compared to the first-generation bio-fuels. The second generation of bio-fuels consist of different kinds of diesels and alcohols from wood. Now we’re on the third generation of bio-fuels. The third generation bio-fuels are deprived from algae. Algae are great at creating these bio-fuels. The algae fuels are great! and are extremely friendly because they can decompose into the soil without harming it. Bio-fuels here in the fourth generation are comprised by a method in which micro-organisms are raised to work with carbon dioxide to generate fuel. Does Bio-fuels have any Advantages? Bio-fuels prove advantageous in the following ways: 1. Bio-fuels really does lessens the burden on less valued, vanishing fossil fuels. 2. They are friendly to the environment, and one of the greatest advantages is that they help reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere. 3. Extremely cost effective. Disadvantages of bio-fuels Bio-fuels have received criticism for a lot of reasons, and here’s a couple of them. . . 1. There has been a long debate on the usefulness of the first generation fuels when it’s compared to the lack of food they caused. They generate food from fuel crops and it makes them unworthy for a human to consume. A disadvantage of bio-fuels is that it requires acres of farming land.

Bio Fuels – are They Good?

As the term suggests, bio-fuels are fuels that are formed when biological matter decomposes. The bio-fuels are mostly derived from plants. Bio-fuels exist in all the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.

Difference between bio-fuels and fossil fuels
Bio-fuels are different from fossil fuels in the following ways:
• Fossil fuels take a million years to build whereas bio-fuels can be made extremely fast, in a matter of days.
• Fossil fuels generate huge amounts of pollution. Bio-fuels are comparatively safer.
• Bio-fuels are renewable sources of energy unlike fossil fuels.

Different types of bio-fuels
Bio-fuels have been categorized into four types: first generation, second generation, third generation, and fourth generation.

The first generation bio-fuels are derived from vegetable fats, starch, and sugar, which are in turn derived from food-crops. The first generation fuels are also derived from animal fats. Biogas, bio-diesel, and vegetable oil are some examples of this type of bio-fuels.

The second generation of bio-fuels is mainly derived from waste biomass, thus making it a more balanced option compared to the first-generation bio-fuels. Different kinds of alcohols and diesel generated from wood fall into the category of second generation bio-fuels.

The third generation comprises of bio-fuels derived from algae. Algae are farmed on large scales for creating these bio-fuels. The algae fuels are extremely environment-friendly as they can easily decompose into the soil without harming it.

The bio-fuels in the fourth generation are derived by a method in which micro-organisms are raised to work with carbon dioxide to generate fuel.

Advantages of bio-fuels
Bio-fuels prove advantageous in the following ways:
• Bio-fuels lessen the burden on gradually-vanishing fossil fuels.
• Bio-fuels are environment-friendly. They help reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
• Bio-fuels, especially, bio-diesel prove to be very cost-effective for consumers.

Disadvantages of bio-fuels
Bio-fuels are not bereft of criticism. Though beneficial for the environment, bio-fuels have its disadvantages, paradoxically in the environmental purview. Bio-fuels have received criticism for many reasons, a couple of which are stated below:
• Economists have long debated on the usefulness of first generation bio-fuels when compared to the lack of food they cause. Generating fuel from food crops makes food crops unworthy of human consumption. Some people believe that being a higher priority than fuel, food should not be farmed for making fuels but for human consumption.
• Making bio-fuels require acres of farming land, thus encroaching upon the natural habitat of plants and animals.

Bio fuels – Are all they so good?

Because the full term proposes, bio-fuels is fires that is defined once natural substance breaks up. The bio-fuels is by and large came by founds. Bio-fuels survive in completely the trey lands from issue: satisfying, flowing, and chatter.

Difference of opinion ‘tween bio-fuels and fogey fires

Bio-fuels is unlike of fogey fires inwards the coming after directions:

• fogy fires admit an a million classes to build up whereas bio-fuels could embody brought in highly degraded, inward an subject from daytimes.

• Fogey fires bring forth large amounts of money from defilement. Bio-fuels is relatively better.

Bio-fuels is renewable beginnings from get-up-and-go different than fogy fires.

Another characters from bio-fuels

Bio-fuel drive home comprised classified into quatern characters: first base multiplication, instant genesis, third gear genesis, and one-fourth genesis.

The firstly propagation bio-fuel is deducted of vegetal fills out, amylum, and clams, which is fashionable become gained of food-crops. The beginning multiplication fires is in addition to inferred by animate being fills out. Bio-gas, bio diesel, vegetative oil color is close to lessons from these character from bio-fuels.

The instant multiplication from bio-fuels comprises primarily calculated by consume biomass, hence bringing in them an a lot of poised selection likened to also first generation bio-fuel. Another sorts from intoxicants and diesel motor brought forth of woodwind instrument come down into the family from 2nd multiplication bio-fuel.

The third base gear multiplication contains from bio-fuels gained of alga. Algae is produced on duty great plates because producing this bio-fuels. The alga fires is highly environment-friendly since they give notice well break up into the territory without harming them.

The bio-fuels booming the fourth break up multiplication is calculated away an technique fashionable which microorganisms is elevated to body of work on carbon copy dioxide to bring forth fire.

Pays back from bio fuel

Bio fuel bring up good inward the being formulas:

• Bio-fuels decrease the effect on-duty gradually-vanishing fogy fires.

• Bio-fuels is environment-friendly. They assistance contract carbon copy discharges into the standard pressure.

• Bio-fuels, specially, bio-diesel analyse to follow one and the same efficient because consumers.

Disfavors from bio fuel

Bio fuel is not grieving from critique. Although healthful because the surroundings, bio-fuels experience they are disfavours, paradoxically incoming the environmental view. Bio-fuels consume experienced unfavorable judgment because a lot of argues, an couple up from which is expressed down the stairs:

• economic expert* experience farseeing deliberated along the utility from beginning propagation bio-fuels whilst equated to the want from food for thought they case. Fathering fire of food for thought browses brings in nutrient works despicable from individual use of goods and services. Just about multitude consider that following an more in high spirits antecedence than fire, nutrient had better not represent raised because bringing in fires simply since human being wasting disease.

• Building bio-fuels command land from raising bring down, therefore impinging abreast of the instinctive home ground by workses and creatures.

“World How do We Reduce Our Dependence on Fossil Fuels? Amazing Algae Biodiesel Production”

Algae Biodiesel Photo Bioreactors and Algae Harvesting

Bio Pioneers in green companies have developed algae biodiesel production and algae oil harvesting systems and equipment for growing algae and harvesting the algae in a very efficient manner for use in algae biofuels such as biodiesel from algae and algae ethanol.

Like other plants, algae stores energy in the form of lipids. Growing algae has potential for algae oil production due to its fast growth rate and the high oil content of some varieties. Some species of algae are so rich in algal oil that it accounts for over 50% of their mass, which means not counting the water, which is over 90% of the algae.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has identified approximately 300 species of algae, as varied as the diatoms (genera Amphora, Cymbella, Nitzschia) and green algae (genera Chlorella in particular) as potentially good sources of oil from algae. Diatoms, or Bacillariophytes, are unicellular, microscopic algae. These organisms are widespread in salt water where they constitute the largest portion of phytoplankton biomass. There exist approximately 100,000 known species around the world. More than 400 new specimens are described each year.

Properly engineered algae systems could produce annually between 2,000-20,000 gallons of biodiesel-worthy algae plant oil per acre. Algae biodiesel and algae ethanol stand as the great green hope of the clean biofuel revolution. For comparison, biodiesel produced from soybeans produces 50 gals/acre/yr. Biodiesel from palm oil yields 600 gals/acre/yr.

Some algae harvesting systems retail for $100,000 US dollars or more. Some algae systems can process one gallon of algae oil per minute from a fluid stream that is half algae/half water by mass & where half of the algae cell mass is oil.

Algae Biodiesel production and algae oil harvesting systems that work in a efficient manner (Use energy conservatively) for growing algae and harvesting algae into Algae biofuels will be the new and long lasting answer to our question of “World How do we reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. ”

making biodiesel at home

This is the Reason Why Biodiesel Fuels are so Economical

Biodiesel is known as an alternative fuel for burning. Biodiesel fuel comes from 100% renewable resources. Biodiesel can be used in vehicle, while mixing it with petroleum to produce biodiesel blend. Biodiesel is biodegradable. Biodiesel fuel produces about 60% less net lifecycle carbon dioxide emission, as compare to it is itself produced from atmospheric carbon dioxide. It is being watched that smog forming hydrocarbon emission are 35% greater and the Nitorgen Oxide emission are also greater.

Diesel engine used pure biodiesel fuel. Biodiesel is very safe to use, it is non toxic. Biodiesel is not alternative for vegetable oil. It can be used in its unaltered form in diesel engines. Only vegetables oil fuels must be changed and which is being used in combustion or ignition engines. It makes biodiesel one of the easiest alternative fuels to use. It is being get used in farm equipment.

Biodiesel fuel is made through process known as Tranesterfication. In this process, glycerin is taken out from vegetable oil or fat. Byproducts like methyl and glycerin being left in between the process. Biodiesel is free from sulfur and other aromatic which generally used to occur in traditional fuels. This unique quality of Biodiesel makes it different from other alternative. Biodiesel has passed all the health cautious test, means it is taken care that it should not affect human being. It is legally registered under environment protection agency. It can be legally sold and distributed in any part of world, while other alternative fuels cannot be sold legally.

Biodiesel is very much economical because it does not require costly raw material. Whatever the raw material it requires comes from plants and biodegradable, so it does not involves much cost. Now days it is rapidly becoming available to the general public. It is available at selected places in country or it can be directly bought from producer. Now its demands getting high, everybody is realizing benefit of biodegradable. It is a very much cheapest way to get biodiesel fuel is to make Biodiesel at home on yourself.

There are some vehicle manufacturers; who are positive about the use of biodiesel. For example, lower engine wear is cited as one of the fuels benefits. Biodiesel is very good than other standard diesel fuel. It used to clean the engine, also removes deposited dust in the fuel line. It is recommended by car manufacturer to change the engine after few months after switching to biodiesel. There are manufacturers that have released list of cars that run of Biodiesel.

Biodiesel is being use as a heating fuel, also in domestic and commercial boilers. There are some existing boilers that are needed to convert to biodiesel, but overall, it does not take much effort or cost to convert to biodiesel.

Note B100 should not be burned in home heaters. And biodiesel is generally more expensive to purchase than any other petroleum diesel, but this difference diminish due to economy. In Germany Biodiesel is cheaper than normal diesel at gas station.

biodiesel expansion

Demand for Biofuels Fuels Demand for Water

As oil prices have been rising, biofuels have been booming. Biofuels are made from plant matter; the complex carbohydrates of the plants are converted into hydrocarbon chains, which behave much like gasoline and diesel fuels. Even if you’ve never heard the term, you’ve undoubtedly heard the names of the fuels; ethanol, methanol and biodiesel are all examples of biofuels currently available in many countries.

The main benefit of biofuels is easy to grasp; biofuels are a renewable resource, unlike petroleum. When the world’s supply of oil is consumed, there will be no way to ‘make new oil’. Conversely, there is a constant harvest of new, growing fuel-crops. Corn, soybeans, hardwoods, sugar canes – all can be harvested and used for biofuel production.

The downsides of biofuels are not so obvious. The first is that some of the same crops that are used for fuels are also used as human and animal food. The high price of oil and gasoline has created intense demand for biofuels; additionally the high prices have meant that biofuel producers can afford to offer attractive pricing to farmers who grow the crops. As a result, an increasing number of farmers have sold their crop to biofuel producers. An example of this can be found in the corn markets; currently the cost of corn stands near $3.25 per bushel – a massive jump from 2006 prices of near $2 per bushel. Those who need to buy corn for any other reason must pay this increased price. As a result, the cost of everything from tortillas to eggs (chicken feed is mostly corn) has risen along with the corn prices.

Another major biofuel-related concern that is just beginning to be discussed is water. Water is required to grow biofuel crops and water is required to process them into fuels. Compounding that is the growing demand for biofuels; increased demand means increased demand forwater. For every gallon of ethanol produced, roughly 4 gallons of water are needed.

In the United States, the state of Iowa is currently wrestling with how to address water resource needs that are related to ethanol production. Currently, Iowa produces 1.9 billion gallons of ethanol. Construction of new plants or expansion of existing ethanol facilities would increase production by almost 1.4 billion gallons. Those biofuel plants consume about 7 percent of the state’swater today, according to a state water -use study. That could grow to 14 percent by 2012, according to a study by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy. As a result of this potential crisis, the Iowa state legislature is considering a bill that would mandatewater recycling for all new biofuel facilities built in the state.

Of even more concern is the growing demand for biofuels in China. The government in Beijing sees renewable energy as a major part of the energy solution that must be offered to support the growing population. China already faceswater shortages in many provinces, though. Amid its water scarcity, China has become the world’s third-largest bio-ethanol producer after only Brazil and the United States; diverting thousands of gallons ofwater to grow a ton of corn, then using more water to turn the corn into ethanol. To combat this, in December 2006, the Chinese government came up with controls on corn-to-ethanol projects so as not to lose more preciouswater to producing fuel at the expense of food.

Governments so far seem to be acting responsibly when the tug of lucrative biofuel profits pulls at the water that is so necessary for life. In the future, it would be wise to weigh the cost of fuel against the cost of a world where water is in short supply.

The Unexpected Expansion of Alternative Fuels

The expansion of the alternative fuel business has exploded these days as people are looking more and more toward improving the environment and perhaps even saving some money in the process. As gas prices continue to skyrocket, gasoline companies know that they must start considering an expansion of their companies to compete in the alternative fuel race if they want to stay afloat.

Alternative fuels are simply those that are not made with any oil products. They are manufactured using products such as corn, vegetable oil, and even garbage! The expansion of the alternative fuel business has its advantages as alternative fuels burn cleaner and have less of an effect on the environment.

As people start to take notice of the issue of global warming, it sparks their interest in alternative fuels as a way to help the environment and keep our world from imploding. That is why oil companies and refineries are finding that they have to keep up with this public interest through an expansion of their alternative fuel divisions.

Another area of expansion in the alternative fuel market is with big car companies. They are starting to make more and more vehicles that are able to run on E85 fuel, ethanol, electricity, and propane. In fact, beginning in 1998, the Ford Motor Company committed 1 billion USD toward the expansion of their alternative fuel vehicle production lines.

In addition, the proliferation of alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles is driving demand for new kinds of technician training. Considerable market expansion has occurred in CNG, propane, ethanol, and biodiesel, with more modest advances in battery-electric power. The expansion in this area of alternative fuel requires new training when it comes to making repairs to vehicles that run on alternative fuels.

Even gas stations are starting to find out that they also have to take part in the expansion of the market when it comes to alternative fuels. As more people start to purchase alternative fuel vehicles, they are also demanding easy accessibility to the fuels that run them. In order to meet the demand for alternative fuels, expansion of gas station facilities is nearly a requirement these days.

There is no doubt about it that the expansion of the alternative fuel market affects all kinds of people and businesses. The good news is that it is affecting them in a GOOD way! Expansion is always good for business, and when it comes to alternative fuels, it is good for the environment and the consumer as well. I say, let the expansion continue!
